one man's sorrow, another's fortune

I don't really know if the saying up there is accurate but its definitely what it is for the English and the German football teams last night. There's a German term called "Schadenfreude" which means pleasure derived from others' misfortunes and how apt is that for the German team? The English may as well drop this piece of German word from their dictionary before their opponents realize that its in there, that they understand its meaning and that they can hurl the word at them and laugh. And laugh they certainly can because they deserved to win, they played "a little" better. My "better half" was in a foul mood last night as goal after goal shot into the English nets, i could have sworn i saw a speck of tear hastily wiped away from his cheek, well, that's an exaggeration but he was definitely at the point of bawling and crying his lungs out after the fourth goal...'

Speaking of guys and crying, i cant understand why its so important for guys to conceal their vulnerability. I think, and i dont want to make the mistake of generalizing here but...some girls prefer men who dont betray their emotions and show a little sensitivity and weakness. We dont expect our boyfriends to uproot gigantic trees nor wear stretchy pants and save helpless people, hell, we would never ask them to wear their panties outside their tights. We, I, never expect them to perform superhuman feats, all i want is for him to hold my hands as i wail over a tragi-romantic movie, show a genuine feeling of concern when i lost one of my earrings, console me when the scale reveals bad news, spend an entire day without sulking in a shopping mall with me. Of course, there's always a favour to repay for every act of tenderness. I would probably have to make extra cups of tea, watch matches with him irrespective of the ticking clock, watch uninteresting kungfu movies, etc. etc. But that's how it is, you give and take in a relationship. Isaac newton should have been given the nobel prize for excellence in romance theory for his "to every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction". Not applicable to many relationships  i assume, but to mine, it deserves an honour.

Coming back to WC, I'll be rooting for Brazil from here on and when i see Lucio holding the WC  Trophy for the world to see, I'd know they have avenged the English's defeat and my devastated bf's. Seems like FIFA has officially affirmed that Adidas' Jabulani is faulty which, in my opinion, is pointless at this stage because it will continue to be used during the rest of the WC matches. Brazil's match against Chile was easy to predict tonight, 2-0 in first half makes me think Brazil would walk away triumphant,so, there's no need for me to see the 2nd half . So here i am....

  1. i've been thinking this whenever i watch the game, in Mizo we say, "Arpuia lungchhia, sanghar a lunglawm" I support Brazil right from the start, welcome to the family :D

one more suggestion if you don't mind -
Leave one space between paragraph and justify the text :)

  2. The match between Germany and England was awesome. Just loved watching the English team getting creamed.

About man's emotion, well we are a bit insensitive. The environment where most men breed does not allow us to react how the female species want to. Because right from the Childhood, if you cry you are termed as a sissy by your buddies..

  4. @A.K The fact that there are people in the world, like you and me, whose minds differ makes life sustainable, right??I'm for England, but if there are no opposites, imagine the chaos the world will be in...i'm sure you guys would prb'ly be killing each other just to get girls like giselle bunchen's attention and the lesser quality gals like us would be left working extra hard to become like her lol :D And you're right the environment is to be blamed for the emotional denial.

  5. Jay-me's sorrow, Kuku's fortune :)
i LOOVE der Germans :)Vhy is Henery silent about the 1000? If he wants I can go down to 500.

And about guys showing their vulnerable side, u havta admit that they are at a lose-lose situation sometimes. When they dont theyre neanderthals, when they do they are pansies,no win situation. I like a guy who says "Love ya babe" and gives me a kick, err..i mean, kiss, i suppose

  9. Men DO cry, in the confines of their bedroom, behind closed doors, if you will. The need to be the stronger sex imposes a lot of pressure on us guys, so give us a break!
I'm rooting for Germany, but also Brazil at the same time. A friend told me it is not fair to have 2 teams, so what!? It simply means I have a backup plan if either one loses before the finals, I don't wanna miss the excitement of cheering for my team in the final match, rather than sulkily hoping that the team who trashed yours lose badly. :P

  10. @illu your hup hup sound more like American football/rugby?? whatever...im not sure which but i do hear a lot of hup2 in movies projecting American sports...im obviously vague here but knowing your IQ and your supposedly female instinct(meaning you identify with me), im sure i wont have to handle the stab of mockery here...
